A starting place
The engine bay was in bad need of cleaning and repainting. Since the engine was running pretty well, I wasn't about to pull it out just for paint.
Painting the brake booster area
Before installing the new power brake booster and master cylinder, I cleaned and painted the firewall where the new components would be mounted.
Masking with aluminum foil
Some places are hard to mask with tape. I found a tip on the Internet that described using foil to mask wires and oddly shaped things. This was excellent advice!
Everything gets scrubbed
with "Purple Power" industrial strength cleaner and degreaser before paint. Rusty spots get shot with rust converter.
A/C components removed
I was working on several projects at a time. As I removed A/C components to replace, I was able to clean and paint the areas they were hiding.
Battery tray needs to be replaced
Before painting the right side, I needed to replace the rusted out battery tray.
Painting the engine
With the external components removed, it was easy to clean and paint the visible parts of the engine.
VHT high temp paint
was used to color the block, water pump, intake manifold and valve covers Ford Blue.
While the alternator was off
I cleaned and detailed the housing and pulley. It looks like a new unit.
